The issue of non-compliance of food supplements, especially in the areas of labelling and claims, is one that affects all member states of the EU. It is of particular concern in those countries where the resources available for enforcement do not enable constant targeting of the multiple companies of concern, especially in relation to online sales.
Within the UK, an initiative began two years ago to tackle the problems of non-compliance in the market place. The initiative was industry led, but representatives from different regulatory agencies have supported discussions from the start, and continue to attend the meetings.
How the process functions and the benefits to both parties of cooperation between industry and regulators are covered in this presentation.
